good vibes only

Oh hey there! Thanks for coming back to check out Part 2 of our fun trip to Nicaragua! 🙂

After Grenada, we went to Ometepe, which is an island formed by two colvanoes. The first is Concepcion which is active, and the second is Maderas which is not. We climbed the inactive volcano which took about 8 hours, and 16 kilometers in the rain, slip-sliding down the volcano!  We didn’t get ANY photos here becasue the weather was miserable, but the actual climb was SO much fun.  We laughed the entire time.

The next day we rode horses up to a stunning waterfall.  I learned that riding horses is slightly terrifying… my horse kept wanting to be in the lead, and he got quite angry when anyone tried to go ahead.  My favourite sunsetw as here, riding the horse down from the waterfall and watching the sun set on the horizon.  It was one of those moments that I tried to soak up every feeling, becasue I didn’t want it to end!

From Ometepe, we went to San Juan Del Sur. I LOVE THIS cute beach/surf town. We explored the beach that Survivor Nicaragua was filmed on, went to the BEST coffee shop I have ever been to (El Gatto Negro) and explored the cute shops and awesome night life.  It was so much fun. We definitely needed more time here!

This was actually the beach where Survivor Nicaragua was filmed! It was called Playa Hermosa, close to San Juan Del Sur.

From SJDS, we went to Popoyo Beach to Magnifique Rock, where we participated in a Yoga/Surf retreat with Papaya Wellness Centre.  India and Carly were the incredible women who lead this group, and I have to say that everything about these few days were the highlights of my trip.  We ate the most amazing food, surfed the best waves (well for beginners lol), and had awesome yoga classes morning and at sunset.  It was pure bliss. They even made us homemade chocolate for Valentine’s day with the best quotes attached! (See below).  These awesome ladies are planning another retreat in Indonesia next year, and I am currently recruiting a group to go! E mail me if you are interested (tlockwood03@gmail.com) 🙂

From here, we took off to Little Corn island, which was a car, plane and hilarious boat ride away.  This was the most interesting part of the trip, haha

Our FAVOURITE meal of the day – breakfast! “Nica Breakfast” on the menu!

I have to say, that I am so incredibly grateful to have gotten to travel with these four incredible ladies!  Everyone we met was shocked that we were travelling in a group of five girls, but these girls made it easy. Everyone got along so well, and more times than not we laughed until our stomachs hurt all day long.  It was an unforgetable experience that I want to live over and over again!  SO, thank you Briar, Linds, Jen, and Mel for coming on this trip and making it once of the best adventures I have had to date!  Love you girls 🙂
