When you have a couple contact you suggesting that they would like to book their wedding date based on your availability, it is a pretty crazy feeling. After photographing Katie’s sisters wedding and meeting their incredible family, I would have been devastated not to be a part of Katie and Mike’s day as well.
Katie had a vision for seeing her man for the first time. She wanted to wait by a waterfall where they had a very memorable date, and watch him walk up to her. She wanted to wait for her man on the bridge. I have photographed at this waterfall several times, and there are always a number of people taking photos, hiking up the sides of the rocks and crowding the area. On this day, there was not even a person in sight. They literally had the entire waterfall to themselves. This may or may not have been due to her sister Kayla (and previous bride) not allowing a soul to cross her path, haha! I stood far away but heard Katie’s deep breathing as she waited for Mike to come to the bridge. It was such a touching first look. Everything about it felt so special, and I could barely hold back my tears watching it!
Sadly, there were two really important people missing on their wedding day. Both Mike and Katie’s mum’s were not there to witness them be married, but there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that they were so present with everyone there that day. The emotions were plentiful, and it was truly a celebration of their love. It was such an honour to be able to document every laugh, tear, and hug that day.
Love you guys!
