Today would have been my Uncle Greg’s 48th birthday.
Uncle Greg passed away in June 2010 of Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which was devastating day for us all. It was a cancer that has a very good rate of cure, so incredibly sad and frustrating that he wasn’t cured.
Uncle Greg was a camera man for CTV News, and loved his job so very much. Not as much as scuba diving in tropical places…. but a lot. He also loved photography, and is a huge part of why I am where I am today. Back in University I entered a photo contest for the cover of the UWO calendar. I was SO proud of this photo that I took with my then Sony Point and Shoot camera. I submitted it, and I actually won! $200 and the cover of the calendar. Uncle Greg was the first person I called, and he was so proud. I always sought out his approval.
He is also the SOLE reason I am a Canon user. When my parents were getting me my first DSLR camera for graduation, I went back and forth between Canon and Nikon, and he insisted that I use Canon. It was all he ever used, and he insisted that I use the same. I never never turned back! 🙂
I love this photo, because this hat was hilarious. MY uncle did not have very much hair, and this hat cracks me up! It is a bit blurry because I don’t have the original photo.
This is the very last photo taken of my sister and I with Uncle Greg. It was 3 years ago at Easter. He was doing so well here!
Happy Birthday Uncle Greg! We miss you, xox.
Love,
T
I am sorry about your uncle, tee. I am always saddened by the news of our loved ones being taken away too early by cancer. but sounds like he has a wonderful life and has had a great influence in your successful business. definitely a life worth celebrating!
This is a beautiful post Tee! I wish I had gotten to know uncle Greg more while he was here. Xo
A very touching tribute!
