Getting to photograph friends weddings is always the ultimate honour.  I love getting to spend all those special moments with my friends, and capture memories they can cherish forever.  Kass and Riley had a *very* unique wedding.  About a month before this intimate wedding at The Drake Hotel,  these lovers actually eloped in the most breathtaking setting in Patagonia… seriously it looked like a dream come true. They chose to have this intimate ceremony when the returned with only their immediate families.  The day after this ceremony, they had a New Years reception for all their friends and family.  It was so truly unique, and true to everything they ever wanted.  Winter weddings  have such a cozy, fun feel to them.  I loved the rich colours and seasonal greenery used throughout this day.

Weddings are a crazy industry. There are so many rich traditions that people feel like they have to do…and often times people feel forced to make decisions based on tradition, and not the values of the couple!  I encourage you to DO YOU.  Have a wedding or event that represents who you are as a couple, however unorthodox that might seem to some people.  WHO CARES! It is your day!  I absolutely loved getting to capture this beautiful intimate ceremony, and then party with these friends to ring in 2018. When I asked them if they would change anything after it was all over, their response was “Not a thing.”  Good for you guys for getting married your way…. and for throwing one hell of a new years bash! I am finding more and more couples are doing this, and straying away from tradition… and I love it!
